Leopold Mozart Johan Georg Leopold Mozart (November 14, 1719 - May 28, 1787) was a composer, music teacher and violinist. He was born in the City of Augsburg, in the Swabian part of the Dukedom of Bavaria, was legal citizen of the Diocese of Salzburg, but spent a lot of time in Vienna, Austria, (all within the Holy Roman Empire). He is best known today for being the father and teacher of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, but was a well-known figure himself in his own time. Dennis Brain
and a prominent figure on the London musical scene, the young Dennis began his career playing second to his father. Brain first recording was of Mozart's Divertimento no. 17 with the Busch Quartet and the Brains, father and son. Aubrey Brain played first horn in the Busch Chamber players who made recordings in the late 30s and Dennis may have appeared in some of these as second horn.
