Telarc International has announced plans to release 11 Classical Music SACDs in the coming year. During 2005, Telarc plans to release a new SACD Sampler of their Classical Music as well as 10 newly recorded Classical Music Super Audio CDs. In the case of the latter releases, Telarc is slated to issue the discs on both SACD and CD formats, and in most cases on the same date - making them so called "day and date" releases. Here's the list of the 2005 Classical Music SACD Releases from Telarc with a description of each disc provided by the label.
Concerto
Concerto Concerto (from the latin concertus, from certare, to strive, also confused with concentus), in its most general sense, is a name for a piece of classical music in which there are two distinct groups of instruments, one larger than the other. The most usual kind of concerto is one that pits a solo instrument against a full orchestra in three movements. The term appears in the beginning of the 17th century, at first as a title of no very definite meaning, but which early acquired a sense justified by its etymology and became applied chiefly to compositions in which unequal instrumental or vocal forces are brought into opposition. Although by Johann Sebastian Bach's time the concerto as a polyphonic instrumental form was thoroughly established, the

1883 - September 15, 1945) was a composer of classical music and a member of the so called Second Viennese School. He was born Anton Friedrich Wilhelm von Webern but never used his middle names, and dropped the von in 1918. Biography Webern was born in Vienna in Austria. After spending much of his youth in Graz and Klagenfurt, Webern attended Vienna University from 1902. There he studied musicology with Guido Adler, writing his thesis on the Choralis Constantinus of Heinrich Isaac. This interest in early music would greatly influence his compositional technique in later years. He studied composition under Arnold Schoenberg, writing his Passacaglia, Op. 1 as his graduation piece in 1908. He met Alban Berg, who was also a pupil of Schoenberg's, and these two relationships would be the
Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini
Theme of Paganini Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini is a piece of classical music for orchestra and solo piano by Sergei Rachmaninov. According to the score, the work was written from July 3 to August 18, 1934. The piece is in the key of A minor and is Rachmaninov's opus 43. The piece is a set of 24 variations on the twenty-fourth and last of Niccolo Paganini's Caprices for solo violin. Several other sets of variations on these theme have been written, including pieces by Johannes Brahms, Franz Liszt and Paganini himself. Although Rachmaninov's work is performed in one stretch with no breaks, it can been seen as being in three sections, corresponding to the three movements of a concerto: up to variation 11 corresponds to the first movement, variations
