Classical review - music lovers (Santa Barbara Independent)
Camerata Pacifica Chamber Music Concert. At the Victoria Hall Theater, Friday, May 13. It has been fascinating to watch the Camerata Pacifica evolve. Each of its members adds a very distinct musical personality into the weave: Adrian Spence's flute, Donald McInnes' viola, John Steinmetz' bassoon.
Crossville Chronicle
I'll never be able to listen to the classical song "Clair de Lune" the same. This happened to me several years ago. The song was played at my stepfather's funeral because it was one of his favorites.
Although that is a part of why the song won't ever be the same to me - it's not the whole reason. My stepfather was born in 1925 and was a World War II veteran. He passed away in January of 2003 after a lengthy battle with emphysema and cardio pulminary disease. These medical problems, as well as several others, were the result of smoking for decades.

Te Deum
liturgy with its declaration of faith. Naming God immediately, the hymn proceeds to name all those who praise and venerate God, from the hierarchy of heavenly creatures to those Christian faithful already in heaven to the Church spread throughout the world. The hymn then returns to its creedal formula, naming Christ and recalling his birth, suffering, and glorification. At this point the hymn turns to the subjects declaiming the praise, both the Church in general and the singer in particular, asking for mercy on past sins, protection from future sin, and the hoped-for reunification with the elect. The text has been set to music by a number of classical composers, with those settings by Anton Bruckner, Hector Berlioz and Antonin Dvorak among the better known. The prelude to Marc-Antoine Charpentier's setting
Arthur Fiedler
was the long-time conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra, a symphony orchestra in Boston, Massachusetts that specialized in popular entertainment more than "fine art". With a combination of musicianship and showmanship, he made the Pops the best-known orchestra in the country. Some criticized him for watering down music, particularly when adapting popular songs or edited portions of the classical repertoire, but Fiedler deliberately kept performances informal, light and often self-mocking to attact more listeners. Fiedler's father was an Austrian-born violinist who played in the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and his mother was a pianist and musician. He grew up in Boston until his father retired and returned to Austria, where he studied and worked until returning to Boston at the start of World War I. In 1915 joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra
Incidental music
Incidental music Incidental music is music in a play, television program, radio program or some other form not primarily musical. The term is less frequently applied to film music, with such music being referred to instead as the "film score" or "soundtrack". Incidental music is often "background" music, and adds atmosphere to the action. It may also include pieces which will provide the main interest for the audience, for example overtures, or music played during scene changes. It may also be required in plays which have musicians performing on-stage. The use of incidental music dates back at least as far as Greek drama. A number of classical composers have written incidental music for various plays, with the more famous examples including Ludwig van Beethoven's music for Egmont,
