DeKALB - The public is invited to the senior graduation piano recital of Laura Bayle at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Recital Hall at the Northern Illinois University Music Building.
Bayle is a senior at DeKalb High School and a student of Eva Woo.
She has been the recipient of numerous Granquist Music Piano Competition awards over the past 10 years and was named Outstanding Music Student in 2005 by the Illinois Music Teachers Association.
Recital selections include "Prelude and Fugue" by Bach; "Sonata Op. 110" by Beethoven; Debussy's "Arabesque No. 1 and No. 2" and "March of the Dwarfs" by Grieg.

Akademische Orchestervereinigung
was organized by a collective of local students and other amateur musicians to bring high-quality music to the community. AOV usually gives four concerts per year. An egalitarian organization, the AOV elects its own conductor, which as of July 2003 is Thomas-Michael Gribow. The orchestra specializes in the performance of classical art music as well as lighter, accessible contemporary music. Since 1991, the orchestra has performed the works of Beethoven, Bizet, Prokofiev, Lutoslawski, Weber, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Bernstein, Wagner, Brahms, Henze and more. It gave the world premiere of the "Overture to 'The Bad Room'" by American composer Justin Weaver.
Antonio Salieri
He remained in Vienna for the remainder of his life, and in 1774, when Gassmann died, Salieri was appointed the court composer by Emperor Joseph II, and Imperial Royal Kapellmeister in 1788. During his time in Vienna he acquired great prestige as a composer and conductor, particularly of opera, and also of chamber and sacred music. The most successful of his 43 operas were Les Danaïdes (1784), which was first presented as work of Gluck's, and Tarare (1787). He wrote comparatively little instrumental music, including just two piano concerti written in 1773. He attained an elevated social standing, and frequently associated with other celebrated composers such as Joseph Haydn. As children, Beethoven, Schubert and Liszt all benefitted from his tutelage. 6, 1926) is a musicologist. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts and studied music at Swarthmore College and Boston University. He subsequently moved to Europe where he worked as a music critic. From 1947 he did research in Vienna on Joseph Haydn, a composer on whom he would become a noted expert. His book Symphonies of Joseph Haydn was published in 1955, with the five volume Haydn: Chronicle and Works following at the end of the 1970s. He also edited a number of Haydn's works. Robbins Landon has published work on other 18th century composers, including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven and Antonio Vivaldi. Writings This list is incomplete.
