About Beethoven
In addition, Beethoven realizes the essence of the most important of classical forms - the sonata form - with strongly differentiated first and second theme groups, highly dramatic development sections and codas that sometimes rival the development in size. Ludwig Van Beethoven is certainly on any short list of the greatest composers. His fame was entirely that of a virtuoso improviser at the kbd.

Beethoven's 'next world'
CLASSICAL MUSIC CRITIC Ludwig van Beethoven's last symphony -- the Ninth -- stands at a pinnacle in the classical music repertoire. Its vast expression of anguish and strength and its glorious choral finale make it distinct among the composer's large orchestral works. The Chicago Philharmonic will perform this masterpiece at 7 p.m. Sunday at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, Evanston. The orchestra will be joined by 150 voices of North Shore Choral Society and soloists from the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists. David Hoose, conductor of the Boston Camerata Singers, will be on the podium.

Hungary: Beethoven in Budapest
FOR a city as famous for its musicians (Liszt, Bartk, Solti) as its music, it is fitting that Budapest should play host to a film about possibly the greatest of them all, even if Ludwig van Beethoven never called the capital home. ... I have been devoted to the music ever since. I cannot imagine ...

Nocturne
intended for performance at night, much like a serenade. In its more familiar form as a single-movement character piece usually written for solo piano, the nocturne was cultivated primarily in the 19th century. The first nocturnes to be written as such were by John Field, but the most famous exponent of the form was Frederic Chopin, who wrote 21 of them. Later composers to write nocturnes for the piano include Gabriel Fauré and Erik Satie. Other examples of nocturnes include the one for orchestra from Felix Mendelssohn's incidental music for A Midsummer Night's Dream and the set of three for orchestra and female choir by Claude Debussy (who also wrote one for solo piano). The first movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata has also been considered a nocturne (certainly, Ludwig

His first public recital followed in 1947 and his first recital on CBC radio came in 1950. This was the beginning of a long association with the radio and with recording in general. On April 10 1964 Gould gave his last public performance in Los Angeles, California, to concentrate

Johannes Brahms
1833 - April 3, 1897) was a German composer of classical music.
