About Rodgers and Hammerstein
The King and I is about conflicts between cultures. Two well-known songs from The King and I are "Getting to Know You" and "I Whistle a Happy Tune." Rodgers and Hammerstein’s final collaboration was The Sound of Music, in 1959. Most of the musicals of Rodgers and Hammerstein were made into movies and are available on video or DVD.

The King and I
The King and I The King and I is a musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II with a script based on Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon. The plot comes from the autobiographical story of Anna Leonowens who became governess to the children of King Mongkut of Siam in the early 1860s. The musical was first staged in 1951 with the hitherto unknown Yul Brynner as the King Rama IV of Thailand and Gertrude Lawrence as Anna. It was filmed in 1956 with Brynner playing opposite Deborah Kerr. Brynner won an Oscar for his portrayal. A television series, Anna and the King, was created in 1972 giving credit to Margaret Landon for the creation. In 1946, Rex Harrison and Irene Dunne starred in the film,

Paul Rodgers Paul Rodgers is a vocalist known chiefly as a member of Free (band) and Bad Company. He also did a short stint with Jimmy Page in The Firm. Bill Rodgers
Bill Rodgers William Thomas Rodgers, Lord Rodgers of Quarry Bank (born 1928), often known as Bill Rodgers was one of the "Gang of Four" senior British Labour Party politicians who defected to form the Social Democratic Party. He subsequently helped to lead the SDP into the merger that formed the Liberal Democrats, and later served as that party's leader in the House of Lords. Rodgers first entered the British House of Commons in 1962, and served in Labour Governments under Harold Wilson and James Callaghan, becoming Secretary of State for Transport in Callaghan's Cabinet in 1976.
