As the Broadway community converged on Radio City Music Hall for the 59th annual Antoinette Perry Awards, they could look back on a season notable for producing a higher-than-average number of serious plays.
With the perennial laments about the death of serious theater, it seems worth noting that there were enough candidates to fill the Tony Best Play Revival category but only three shows to fill the comparable musicals category.
The season had plenty of memorable moments that will stay with me, whether or not they win awards:

The Band Wagon
The Band Wagon The Band Wagon is a 1954 musical comedy film which tells the story of an aging musical star who wants to star in a Broadway play that will restart his career. But the play's director wants to make it a pretentious retelling of Faust, and brings in a prima ballerina who clashes with

His first wife was Sarah Hugill, related to the former royal Tudor family. They married in 1971 and divorced in 1977. His second wife was singer Sarah Brightman. They were married in 1984 and divorced in 1990. He has remarried to Madeleine Gurdon, to whom he is currently married. He has several children from all three marriages. In 2002, he produced a musical Bombay Dreams with Indian music composer AR Rahman. The musical celebrated its first birthday
